I was prowling round the garden, camera in hand, on the lookout for an image for today when this hover-fly (?) buzzed past me and plopped down on to this autumn leaf. I'm sure he knew that he was out and about too early as he made no attempt to do the things that hover-flies normally do... just sat on this leaf while I took photographs of him. He drew the line when I tried to move the piece of wood out of shot though and went on his way, leaving me with this unseasonal image.
