Stands the Church clock at ten to four?

...to paraphrase Rupert Brooke in the penultimate line of his poem 'The Old Vicarage, Grantchester'. This is an exterior view of the church of St. Armel, Ploërmel which featured in my 365 post yesterday. I wanted to capture the sternness and the uncompromising solidity of this building.
Beautiful capture with great texture

Great composition, architectural lines, textures...its austerity is relieved by the curved lines

You are as eloquent as any poet with your camera....

Ditto John @jack4john
You've really shown so many sides to this building -- very impressive & successful shot today to capture the imposing lines.

Yes, very solid and stern, great textures here

This views nicely on black, too. The stern impassiveness of the building has served it well through the years.

Love the texture, lines, angles, etc. Nice in B&W

Excellent capture to show the bold strong essence of a grand church that has withstood the tests of time.

Fortunately these timeless structures, at least in Europe are valued, respected and welcome all who visit. We are left in no doubt of its presence.

The hour a little before and a little after 4 is bewitching for me.....a very inspiring PoV

They sure don't build them like that anymore, do they?! This is an impressive structure that has withstood the test of time (yes, I did look it up, it dates back to the 1500s, which is a lot older than anything we have here, unless you count some adobe structures!)....beautiful!

Very imposing building. Love the detail we seem to have forgotten today.

Sure looks stern, Richard. In marked contrast to the light ,welcoming feel as communicated in your internal shot.
