Gloomy Graveyard on a Gloomy Day

This is a very small part of the Graveyard surrounding St. Edmund's Parish Church, Southwold where some of the graves still in existence date from the 17th C

Definitely gloomier viewed on black!
Perfect in black and white. They didn't have color in the 17th century....... no even a camera to photograph it.

I love that word, gloom! It somehow seems to mean a temporary melancholy! Great selection of leaning tombs which rhymes with gloom!

Interesting to see so many crosses, sadly fewer in our times. As Issi said, most timely.

Perfect graveyard shot full of textures, shadows & crooked gravestones.

Black and white seems to suit the subject at this time of year. I was there in the summer - the church was under wraps for repair but there were lots of interesting details on the outside.

@rob24 Thanks Robert - the repairs are coming to an end but there were still workman about inside and there was a portable scaffold in front of the magnificent rood screen so I was unable to capture the full glory of the nave and chancel... next time.
