Yesterday you saw the magnificent tower of the cathedral at Saintes dominating the old quarter of the city. Today you get to peek inside and enjoy with me the view looking up the nave towards the chancel.
This Cathedral has a local feel about it and in spite of a visiting group, cw photo gear, it is no way pretentious....and I VML it. A lively market outside was in full swing this morning where I bought some figs and tiny tomatoes, smaller than cerise.
Pitty the stained glass is to far away... some are real beauties... Old churches in Gothic style always look good, its one of my favorite styles... great image...
does make me shudder a little, and then I imagine myself as Morgaine quietly bowing my head and thinking of nature rites and I grin. I just love how you bring these places to life :)
I love that stonework above the altar. So intricate and such a lovely style. I am enjoying the paving stones in this shot too. So time worn and multi shaded.
(The OCD in me wants to move the camera by millimetres and make the cross on the altar central in that stained glass window, but that is because I have a huge love of symmetry!)
