NF-SOOC Day 3: Paimpont Abbey by vignouse

NF-SOOC Day 3: Paimpont Abbey

Been tied up all day and evening so no time for photography but on my way home from a meeting I noticed that there were still 5 minutes left before the floodlights illuminating the Abbey would be turned off... taraa - photo of the day! SOOC learning point - I should have positioned the Abbey a little lower in the frame but apart from that, pleasingly little noise for ISO 12800

This is for my annual NF-SOOC September challenge - you can read all about it here: https://365project.org/discuss/themes-competitions/42451/nf-sooc-september-2019

You know Richard, I think this is a masterpiece! The three layers alternating darkness and light and the crisp profile of the abbey, Just wonderful. Not to mention the magnificence on a black background. Fav

As ever...you excel under pressure. 5 mins is an aeon for you in such circumstances!

Beautifully lit up. Nice capture.

the solid black framing of the lit abbey works so well. Interesting that you want the Abbey to be lower - it is pretty marginal but I see, when obscuring the bottom of the frame, that you are, of course right. It would have been even better.

Lee
You've captured the lit Abbey well, and at ISO 12800 There's not a grain in sight. Would you have cropped the image? were you not posting images SOOC.

Nice nightscape of the abbey.

@gamelee Thanks Lee - yes I would have cropped the bottom some and a bit on the left hand side for symmetry. It's difficult to do in camera with a 50mm lens as you have to tilt the camera upwards to lower the abbey in the frame and then you get converging verticals.
