PLAY January - Nikon 50mm f/1.4G: Abbey View

Paimpont Abbey and the western end of the village viewed this evening from the western shore of the lake... which is actually out-of-bounds at this time of the year!

This is for my PLAY project - you can read more about it in my profile - where I'll be using a different prime lens for each month of the year: in January it's the Nikon 50mm f/1.4G on a full-frame camera (the D610 today).

Probably better viewed on black... !
How come there is never any wind where you live?
Every time you post one of those pictures of the Abbey, beautiful as always, the lake is like a flawless mirror!

Lovely processing and superb reflections

After the ice had melted, thus a very different microclimate. Super shot, albeit out of bounds!

@runner365 A more suspicious soul would suggest that it's a flipped image! But no, it's just that I only photograph the Abbey when it's propitious to do so.

@vignouse Well I guess you must have more propitious days than us then ... I would never suggest anything suspicious ;-)

Inspiring image on so many artistic levels...and it also shows me what my gear is capable of in the right hands!

@taffy Well thank you Ma'am... but this did have a severe dollop of Silver Efex Pro2 and LR applied to it (no Ocoloy restrictions this year!).

One of my first thoughts on seeing this was that you were revelling in not having to work SOOC. And that the result is indeed stunning.

What a perfect reflection! Love your composition. I think you could turn it upside down and hardly tell the difference.

I'm glad you commented that your pics this year can be edited. Perfection takes some work, before and after.

Stunning reflections and even Ansel Adams toned his work. I wonder what he would have thought about silver efex pro?

no comments on your delinquency. I really like the how the utter smoothness of the water contrasts with the clouds above.

This is so clear and vivid. It reminds me of a pencil sketch.

Beautifully done! How you composed this and your choice of making it a b/w! FAV!

Richard, I agree with (and ask the same question) as Claes @runner365 So crisp and clear. Fav! I guess it's a modern Nikon lens?
