PLAY February - Fujinon 18mm f/2: Paimpont Abbey by vignouse

PLAY February - Fujinon 18mm f/2: Paimpont Abbey

Today being the first day of a new month, it also means a change of focal length - last month 50mm, this month 18mm which is the equivalent of 28mm on a full-frame camera. I had a meeting in Paimpont Abbey this afternoon with a graphic designer to discuss renewing all the signage. I took the opportunity whilst I was there to capture this image of the nave on a dull rainy afternoon.

This is for my PLAY project - you can read more about it in my profile - where I'll be using a different prime lens for each month of the year: for February it's the Fujinon 18mm f/2 on an APS-C sensor camera (today the Fuji X-Pro1) - the equivalent of a 28mm lens on a full-frame camera.

It's also for the Flash of Red challenge and is best viewed on black.
I like this, I think the 18mm does a very nice job here.

Stunning architecture -- quite dramatic, and perfect in b&w.

I'll be glad to see what you do with this since this is similar to my new lens. I like the length of the aisle and high of the sanctuary.

Nice symmetry and leading lines of the center isle. Excellent b&w

VML how the large stones down the aisle provide contrast to the surrounding geometry.

18mm put to good use here Richard... look forward to seeing what else you do with it. But I'll miss the 50mm Nikon!

Cheers David - don't worry, the 50mm (or more precisely a Fujinon 35mm f/1.4) will be making a return for nf-sooc-september ;-))
