I popped into the city centre today like I do most Saturday afternoons. It had been pouring with rain all morning, and continued relentlessly into the afternoon. For the Bank Holiday weekend the Nottingham City Council has put on some musical events for City Pulse, "Nottingham's favourite family party". It's a pity the rain had paid a lengthy visit today, as last weekend would have been perfect.
One of the shows was a strange medieval medley of music and street performance, so I took the opportunity to take a few snaps of the main man in his mask and costume.
I only took a few photos because the show was nearing its conclusion. Some of the other pictures turned out quite blurry because he was moving around so quickly, but I think this pose is quite interesting as he is looking in my direction and you can see his movement.
Unexpectedly, today was my first foray into street photography during this project. I really admire photographers who can go into cities and find interesting subject matter from everyday urbanity. I also love great photojournalism that captures a moment and tells a story in municipal surroundings. However, I came across today's topic by luck, but I wouldn't have caught it if I didn't have my Canon S90 with me. I never leave home without it!
Semi-professional photographer based in Nottingham, England, I shoot mainly events and weddings. I'll be posting my work using my Fujis - X100S and X-Pro1.
