Some feathers are really pretty. I came across a really long one almost a fortnight ago and left it in my car. I almost forgot about it, but this evening I saw it out of the corner of my eye as I got home and parked up. I decided to take a few shots of this beautiful feather.
Originally I took a photo of more of the feather, but decided to crop it and crank up the sharpness and clarity in post-processing. I probably should have retaken it and framed it better so it would be naturally better detailed, but the Spain vs. Germany match has started!
I'm pretty certain that this is a pheasant's feather. It's about a half a metre long and has a slightly different pattern on each side. You don't come across these types of feathers often on your average walk.

I like the crop as well...the shape of the feather would be nice to see, but much prefer these finer details as you have highlighted. The coloring is gorgeous!
defanitely a pheasant feather. Nice detail. I also rushed my shot posting last night for the game, although in hindsight I could have just stayed at home! :)
