A pheasant's feather by vikdaddy

A pheasant's feather

Some feathers are really pretty. I came across a really long one almost a fortnight ago and left it in my car. I almost forgot about it, but this evening I saw it out of the corner of my eye as I got home and parked up. I decided to take a few shots of this beautiful feather.

Originally I took a photo of more of the feather, but decided to crop it and crank up the sharpness and clarity in post-processing. I probably should have retaken it and framed it better so it would be naturally better detailed, but the Spain vs. Germany match has started!

I'm pretty certain that this is a pheasant's feather. It's about a half a metre long and has a slightly different pattern on each side. You don't come across these types of feathers often on your average walk.

Great macro. This is very well done. I love the contrast from the white background to the feather.

This is fantastic! The contrast really brings out the details in the feather.

I like the crop as well...the shape of the feather would be nice to see, but much prefer these finer details as you have highlighted. The coloring is gorgeous!

Beautiful detail, and the crop seems to say that there is more to the picture than meets the eye. Nice work!

defanitely a pheasant feather. Nice detail. I also rushed my shot posting last night for the game, although in hindsight I could have just stayed at home! :)
