This week is dragging! At least we're past the half-way point for the week. I plan on having a night out this weekend, which is something to look forward to.
I was in my home gym after work today when I saw something that I thought might be a good subject for my daily photo. I showered, and straight after I started snapping away. I sent today's photo to my brother for his opinion, and he described it as being "quirky".
I took lots of photos as the camera was on my tripod on a self-timer, and it took numerous attempts to get compositions I was happy with. I finished with two pictures I was quite pleased with, and I selected this one because it was better composed, although the other photo gave a better impression of how big this pencil is!
An experienced photographer I work with reminded me of a good tip. He pointed out that in the West we read from left to right, and this permeates how we see the World. He mentioned this because in yesterday's picture I photographed a hand fan facing right to left, and said that it might have been more appealing if the image was flipped horizontally. I think he raised a valid and interesting point, and it's something I will remind myself of in the future.
Semi-professional photographer based in Nottingham, England, I shoot mainly events and weddings. I'll be posting my work using my Fujis - X100S and X-Pro1.

That makes a really crazy-fun photo! From my viewpoint, it looks to me like you're writing at the bottom of the page...I wouldn't have seen it as right to left. I think you had some fun with this image and it sounds like you learned a lot, too!
Fun picture! I like the angle and color- and I think the size of the pencil is very apparent! I also see what he was saying about the layout of the picture yesterday- although it is a good one either way! Thanks for the tip!
