I went to visit my friend's newly born baby today. Georgia Rose Walker was born four weeks ago yesterday, making her 29 days old. She's so small and sweet! I said I'd take a few photos for the new father and my good friend Tony; I also thought it would be good practice as I haven't taken baby photos before.
This was actually the first photo I took as Georgia peacefully slept. I took a few more with her dad as she briefly woke up, and later a few more with Emma, her mum. They turned out okay, but it's more difficult than I thought to capture nice shots when babies are awake, as they pull all manner of faces and don't stay still!
I have to say that holding Georgia made me quite broody. I must have had her in my arms for something like an hour. She's such a cute baby! Oh well, my time will come I hope...

Nice portrait, and yes your day will come! I've discovered recently that newborns are difficult to photograph but when you get that one perfect shot, it's amazing!
Aw, yes babies are addictive little things. I settled for having two but there are times I wish I had more! Beautiful shot--she looks so sweet and I love the BW.
This is a precious shot of your friend's bub ... I have similiar photos of both of my children at such an early age ... I think newborns are just brilliant to photograph (although like you said, easier when they're asleep!) ... I'm so glad you put this in the peace theme - there's nothing more beautiful and peaceful as a sleeping baby :)
a fav for me....
Great shot!! :)
PS - Great lighting and LOVE the b&w ...
