I've been fretting for much of the day thinking about what to shoot. With it being my 150th day I wanted to do something nice, especially considering I was disappointed with yesterday's shot. I considered doing some light painting, which is when you take photos in the dark and 'paint' with a torch or LED light. I tried it and came up with some interesting effects, but nothing that really took my fancy.
During an afternoon break at work I picked up a couple of fallen leaves that looked interesting. After looking through my earlier light paintings, I decided to marry the leaves as a subject with the painting by light.
I set up my tripod above the leaf, which was resting on a white background. I turned all the lights off and took a few photos with a long exposure whilst shining an LED light all around the leaf. Although I'm quite pleased with the effect, I think with more time I would have executed it better. I would have taken a few more shots and used a white background that wasn't wrinkled, but it was getting late and I needed to get my daily photo done!
Tomorrow I'm hoping to go the University of Nottingham's main campus. I studied at this campus a few years ago, so it will be nice to see it again. I've done a couple of shoots at the new Jubilee Campus (on day 127 and day 136), but the main campus is more traditional with a grand white building that overlooks a pond. With sunsets getting earlier, I'm hoping I won't have to stay too long and I'll get a few decent photos.
Semi-professional photographer based in Nottingham, England, I shoot mainly events and weddings. I'll be posting my work using my Fujis - X100S and X-Pro1.

yup I agree with Jinx- without that wrinkly background this is just another picture of a leaf, but with it is is pretty cool- plus the lighting is cool :)
