I had a shoot planned today with my pal John Wynn. I met Mr Wynn and another friend in town for a beverage, but at the last minute he said he couldn't do it today. I was a little disappointed because I was looking forward to it, but we'll do the shoot sometime soon. I decided to make a quick visit to Nottingham Castle instead, and I took a few snaps of the Robin Hood statue that sits near the entrance.
Being born and raised in Nottingham I just had to shoot this monument at some point during this project. I shot the statue from various angles, but I knew I wanted to capture it using a narrow depth of field and concentrating on the face, so I used my 50mm prime lens. In post processing I increased the contrast and clarity.
I actually stopped myself from visiting the inside of the castle. I think it's free - or at least very inexpensive - to visit Nottingham Castle, but I knew I wanted to shoot the statue. I felt that doing a shoot within the castle's walls would waste a potential shoot for another day. I've done this a few times; I've actually stopped myself from continuing a shoot once I've got the photos I want if I know I could visit again in the future. When you have 365 days of photos to complete, you have to be selective!
Semi-professional photographer based in Nottingham, England, I shoot mainly events and weddings. I'll be posting my work using my Fujis - X100S and X-Pro1.

this is a really great shot Vik, did you do any radial blurring in the background? The leaves have a little bit of a round blurring look to them. Either way it looks great.
