On tap

Quick update today. I took lots of pictures of a running kitchen tap, and here's my favourite from the bunch.

I used my 50mm prime to achieve the shallow depth of focus, as well as using my external flash. In post-processing I increased the clarity and contrast and converted it to black and white.

First day back at work today with the clocks moved back. It was dark when I left, so I have a feeling there'll be many more indoor shots over the coming months!

Canon EOS 450D, f/1.8, 1/200, ISO-100
Nice detail... I was looking at 50mm lens on ebay today - seemed a bit cheap so will check a few other places before I hand overf any dosh...

This is amazing. :D I love the simplicity brought out by the black and white conversion, and the crisp focus on the water, and how it fades out of focus so quickly.

Love the way you've caught the water, looks almost like glass.

I was about to say the same as Richard...it looks like the water is either glass or an icicle...fantastic depth of field...i think you've convinced me to go for a 50mm prime as one of my first purchases :)

There is an almost crystalline appearance to the water, great capture and processing!

@andycoleborn They are cheap Andy, I got mine second hand with a UV filter for about £70. Brand new you can get them for about £90-100. Honestly get one, opens up a new world of possibilities.

Surreal. Perfect for that b&w conversion. Love the conversion itself, too.

Nice one! Yeah yesterday was my first day at work since the clocks turned too and I felt that same way. I left work and was like, oh no! Ahh we'll figure something out.

This turned out great! Gosh, I'm falling behind on my project due to lack of sleep! I keep falling asleep after I get home from work at 9.

Our clocks don't turn back until this Sunday.
