I woke up this morning to the most intense fog. The mist had blanketed my entire journey to work. In the past I may have seen it as an irritation, but I couldn't help but marvel at the beauty of the landscape - it's one of the best things to have come from doing this project. The fog didn't subside until about midday, and luckily I went for a walk in the local country park just before it began to lift.
I didn't have my D-SLR with me, so I had to use my compact S90. What I love about the fog is that it simplifies the landscape, making it easier to compose an attractive picture. I got a few shots I was pleased with, but I liked the tonal range in this picture and, if you look closely, the drops hanging from the bare tree. Black and white just lends itself to such weather, and in post-processing I decreased the clarity to make it look more misty.
I've joined a new gym that opened today. It was great getting back into such an environment after working out in my home gym for the past few months. It's a double-edged sword though for this project, because driving in to the city centre after work and then home takes more time and leaves less for taking photos. However, being in town also means I can take some more pictures in the centre of Nottingham. I'll see how it pans out, especially during the winter months.
