Broken flowers by vikdaddy

Broken flowers

I bought Suman some flowers a while ago. They're still in the vase, and they've just about died. I'm not sure why they're still there, but at least it makes for an interesting reverse macro shot.

I quite like today's photo because it reminds me of a painting from an artist like Monet; basically, anybody from the Impressionist movement.

I'm frustrated! I saw the most awesome suit in Reiss, and it was in the sale. It was £450, but it had gone down to half-price when I looked at it on-line this morning. I'm in between sizes, and there was both available too. I rang the local store and they had one of the sizes, so I popped in to town on my lunch and tried it on. It was a bit too tight. I came back to work to order the size above, and it had sold out! I should have just ordered it when I had the chance!

Canon 7D, f/0, 1/200, ISO-100
Stunningly beautiful.

Sorry for the bad luck with the suit, but I love this picture! It definitely reminds me of the work of an impressionist!

Fabulous shot . . . Love, love, love the colors and effect . . .

Sucks about the missed opportunity! Better luck next time!

Gorgeous shot Vik! I really admire your skill with reverse macro- it is harder then it sounds!
To bad about the suit- sounds like it was a good deal

Sorry about your suit! I was in the same predicament with a pair of shoes I wanted real bad a couple of weeks ago. I saw my size online but wanted to be sure of the size and decided to pick it up in the store so I can try it on. They didn't have my size at the store and when I came back home...size was gone! On the lighter note...this picture is simply awesome! The colors! The details! Wow!!!

What a stunning shot! Very much like an oil painting on a gallery wall.
I am keen to give reverse macro a try - and with this shot I'm most inspired now :)

this is a beautiful photo. but can i ask a dumb question? i looked up "reverse macro" on the internet to see what it is, and i think i get it. but are there things you can do with a reverse lens than a regular macro lens?

Great photo! Love the detail!

interesting shot! look so dreamy, nice oof and bokeh...

@christiq well, if you don't have a macro lens it's an alternative, and you can get sooo much closer. however the depth of field is tiny.

A fav! Cool idea.

Fantastic photo. I really like the colors and the effect that it has :)

Very interesting effect, as you say - a tiny DoF. The overall presentation is very painterly and I like it a lot.

I like how it looks like a painting. Love the impressionists.

Great Colors and detailing on the wilting flower...

Bummer, sorry you missed out on the suit Vik.

Hey Vik sorry we didn't have the best endorsement of your homeland! Actually my wife wrote the blog but I gave it the OK. We generally never enjoy big cities, we have the best time in historic cities that one can walk across easily and see everything on foot. We really liked Cambridge and had a great time there.
