A lily for my love by vikdaddy

A lily for my love

My better half isn't a fan of red roses. I think she finds them a bit clichéd and prefers pastel colours. So, for Valentine's I bought her a bunch of pink and white flowers, and used one of the lilies for today's shot.

I splashed a few drops of water on the flower, hence the drops you can see on the petals. This photo was sloppily taken; the background wasn't white (it's a magnolia-painted wall), so I had to lighten the background. I need to invest in some backgrounds! I also had to crop it slightly in post-processing to remove my thumb from the stem.

There's 90 days left. I am seriously in countdown mode now; this project takes far too much time on some days, mainly because I'm trying to maintain a modicum of quality in my photos.

Most days are like today; I go to work, then gym, eat dinner and then I have to think about my daily photo. Once I've found a subject, taken a few photos, edited and posted, it's time to get ready for tomorrow and then my bed!

Your day sounds a bit like mine, I had hoped it would get easier towards the end. I've started up a list of things that I need to get and backgrounds is on it, along with flash trigger, another camera bag, decent editing software. But I waffle, love the pic.

@andycoleborn I know; work then gym, we get home and take a shot from a similar angle, even down to the drops on the flower! Weird.

Really nice one Vik. I hear ya on countdown mode! I hit a serious slump with three months out. Now I have less than 6 weeks and I am looking forward to spending time on other projects as well, as I'm sure you are.

Stick in there Vik, it is tough to the extent that I had to use the odd filler(laziness i guess). But when you start getting lots of comments you feel obliged not to upload a crap photo...stick in there mate. After the 365 you can upload as when, no pressure :)
