Night and day; male and female; hot and cold. Nature is about seemingly interconnected yet opposite forces, that ebb and flow and complement one another. I like the idea of this harmonious balance, which probably stemmed from Chinese philosophy. It's an idea that I was immediately reminded of when I began editing today's photo.
It's the yin and yang symbol that this image is evocative of (to me at least) that reminded me. It was accidental, as part of the background was genuinely very dark and the other part white. I ran with the concept when I began processing. In hindsight it also reminds me a little of the iconic image of Che Guevara.
I've stubbed a toe twice in four days. It really hurts when it happens! The second time was particularly bad, with a lot of blood and pain. However, I must add that the rush of endorphins is quite pleasant when it kicks in... it's just a shame it doesn't last!
Semi-professional photographer based in Nottingham, England, I shoot mainly events and weddings. I'll be posting my work using my Fujis - X100S and X-Pro1.
