Daisy & Jordan - Christmas Canines #1

Daisy is my niece Allie's latest pup. Allie loves animals and she has 3 dogs and a cat. She also works at a doggy daycare and is an art student. She has studied photography and helps me with my slow learning curve. We had a canine Christmas with her three dogs and our pup. Daisy (she's a Bull Mastiff) made her presence known by flopping down for a nap smack dab in the middle of the front room where we sat around the tree and opened presents. She was soon buried under the paper and gifts but didn't mind a bit.

Allie rescued her from the brother of a friend who was going to have her put to sleep after he had children. Before he owned her some terrible people had her for a few years. They kept her pregnant, cut and stitched her eye lids so her eye lashes didn't get into her eyes and did a back alley spay job. They made her live outside and in winter I am sure she suffered. You can still see the stitches if you look closely. Jordan is gently holding her in the photo to give you the full effect of her beauty. After five years of a terrible life she is still as gentle as a warm breeze. Jordan loves her and when they are together he spends most of his time laying on her, petting her, giving her all sorts of affection. She brings this out in people with her sweet presence. I think the best gift of this holiday for our family is that this nice animal now has a safe and secure life surrounded by love.

I don't understand how people could treat a pet so cruelly. :( Kudos to your niece for giving her a home and taking care of her.
What a sweet face!

How good to know that there are people with heart to rescue from the cruelty of some inhuman people. It is a touching story and she is lovely.

Aww, I love the photo and am so happy to read she found a good home after that horribleness. People do dumb things to their animals. When I worked in the veterinary field, I remember a person bringing in their doberman that they tried to crop the tail off with a pair of scissors. I wanted to smack them.

I don't even want to ask about the spay job, that's complicated surgery, I'm surprised she didn't bleed to death

Wow Wendy, that is some story. Allie is an angle and Daisy is precious. Is Jordan a relative? This story is a true Holiday miracle!

@wac We are having so much fun together! She is intelligent, witty and thoughtful :o) I miss her when she is away but know that she is on her own path to womanhood. How beautiful it is to watch your child fulfill their dreams........:o)

Funny picture but touching story! I hate hearing of animals being abused...so glad Daisy found a loving home! Thanks for sharing the uplifting story Wendy, gives us all hope that "Happily Ever After" is possible for these animals.

Isn't it wonderful that there are people like you and your family who will take in a neglected dog or cat...and I really think they do appreciate the love more than some pure bred pet would...so cute...both Daisy and Jordan!

What a touching image and story. She looks somewhat surprised. If I were her, I'd be waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Seriously -- he's a heartbreaker.

How can people be so cruel? Especially when dogs will respond with unquestioning devotion, given half a chance. I'm so glad there is a happy ending to this tale.

LOL!! I love this picture! Had to fav it. The expression on that wonderful furkid's face is priceless! She is so lucky to have found someone to take her in! We love our slightly neurotic adopted furkid too!
