172/365 - The longest day, the shortest night.

Went out for a walk this evening, armed with tripod and new cable release. Two hours later, came home with a few shots and zillions of midgie bites. They are the scourge of the land!! Every time I stopped, they swarmed in. So, my summer solstice meander became a quick step! Good for the metabolism at least. Many thanks everyone, for once more putting one of my pics on the PP. It is a great feeling.

And for others - like me - who are going to bed when it is still light outside, a little poem from one of our finest:

Bed In Summer
In winter I get up at night
And dress by yellow candle-light.
In summer quite the other way,
I have to go to bed by day.

I have to go to bed and see
The birds still hopping on the tree,
Or hear the grown-up people’s feet
Still going past me in the street.

And does it not seem hard to you,
When all the sky is clear and blue,
And I should like so much to play,
To have to go to bed by day?

-Robert Louis Stevenson

Lovely reflections looks very tranquil apart from the midges :)

The poem reminds me of lying in bed on a summer evening as a child hearing all the voices of my friends still playing outside. The blues in your photograph are fantastic. A wonderfully peaceful scene to celebrate the longest day with. The midges - I feel your pain.
