8 years ago we were flying to Iceland from Heathrow airport. Security was on high alert as Teams were arriving in readiness for the Olympics. If it wasn’t for COVID this years Olympics would be underway.
Whilst in Reykjavik we found this spoon in a Antique shop commemorating the London Olympics 1948.
Beautiful shot and spoon. My father in law (rip) was a silversmith and a super one too and he used to make spoons similar to this in solid silver to sell. He came from a family of silversmiths who used to make full sets of silver cutlery for high ranking families. I have a few of these at my house and I may post a shot or two someday now that I have seen this. Thanks for sharing and for the memories you bring. My father-in-law was a saintly person.
@sangwann my dear mum(rip) would buy me spoons so I always think of her when I see an interesting spoon. How lovely that your father in law was a silversmith.
Great capture
