Elvis and the Lipstick

From the side view my husband thought that this figurehead looked like Elvis. I thought it was more Liberace from the front!!
These are both in Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth U.K. which was built on the Site of the old Naval base HMS Vernon in 2001.
The Lipstick building so named because of its shape is a block of apartments which cost a fortune.

I confess to not thoroughly reading the information in the link but I couldn’t find where it said who this figurehead is supposed to be I agree with you, he looks more like Liberace than Elvis. An interesting juxtaposition for your shot of the very old figurehead and a very contemporary architecture!

I’d be a fool to go with Elvis, with the tide of public opinion going so strongly to Liberace. Plus, I agree, more Liberace. I like the relief decorative elements on the surface of the piece behind this one.
