Ah, I bird I recognise! I didn't know you had these down under, there are plenty around here. I like this shot with the combination of lines in the back ground and the hexagonal wire fence and the colours of the goldfinch stand out really well against the greys.
Great shot, I can't quite put a finger on why, but this photo really works! Something about the bent wire fence (and how the light catches it) and the corrugated metal in the background, it just seems such an unlikely place for such a pretty bird :)
I wouldn't have dared try that background with my camera...but you got it just right. The bird pops out from the darker background and the pattern is not distracting...just interesting.
Love the colours of the bird - they really pop in front of the gray tones in the background.
