the time is ripe! by wiesnerbeth

the time is ripe!

We’ve been wanting to try fresh passion fruit since they are always using it on The Great British Bake Off. Finally found some in the grocery store but then had to time the ripening with Nick so we could FaceTime while eating it. We really know how to have fun.
well? How was it? To be honest, doesn't look all that appetizing. But on the Great British Bake Off they would be using it in some kind of fantastic baked good. Do you have to get all those seeds out or are they edible?

@margonaut The seeds are edible (they’re soft). It’s interesting to eat — almost like a jello. Ours was tropically and a little sour (kind of like a sour kiwi), but Nick said his first one was sweet. Apparently the older and more wrinkly they are, the sweeter the fruit. Next we’re planning to use the frozen pulp to make passion fruit curd that we’re putting in a coffee cake. Paul would be appalled at us using frozen pulp, but the fresh ones are too expensive!
