New Year .... new play! by willowdragon

New Year .... new play!

Firstly ..... Happy New Year!!!!
May 2019 be a happy one.

I have had a few dodgy sausages in the last few months and decided that, as a foodie, I wanted to try and make my own so that I knew what was going into them. So ..... I asked Jo for a mincer for Christmas. I chose one from Lakeland that was not too pricey so that I could see if I liked it or not. I got some sausage skins too!
So today I decided to give it a try. It took me a while to mince the meat and I also discovered that it is harder than it looks! but I got the hang of it and gradually minced, reminced (there are two cutting discs) and then added my other ingredients (Homemade breadcrumbs and fresh herbs) and then I made the sausages!
They are not the same size but they are mine and I am proud of them! I used the scraps of the sausage meat to make two patties which we will have on a roll for breakfast at some point.

I am not going to say that I am restarting my 365 project but I am going to try and post a bit more.

Three good things today:
1. I made sausages!!!
2. A nice roast gammon which will last for days! lol
3. The last "festive" day before things get back to normal tomorrow. I am looking forward to normality again!
I got a meat mincer too recently but found it choked up with gristle an awful lot. Then I bought the wrong size of casing and ended up with worms! Well not really! I agree with all your good things!

@maggiemae I cut most of the gristle off but I put a little bit of bacon in and that choked it up a bit. That was what made it hard at first. Once I realised what had happened and I cleared it, it worked fine.

Thank you! I like to know what is going in my food where I can. I have put these ones in the freezer but I did do a test cook of the sausage meat and it was lovely!
