Running short of time today, worked 9:00 - 1:00 then a bit of shopping with Rhi, now heading back to work for a 6:00 - 9:00 shift.
This is something that I picked up on one of my op shop trips a few months back...we also have another one on a larger scale that we brought from an antique store a few years ago. I know nothing about them but find them very intriguing, they are made up of lots of old bits & pieces (old hinges, keys, drawer handles & so on) mounted on black velvet & framed. Both have a little plaque in the top left corner that says "Junco 1843"
Interesting...I think so :)
i actually have one of these. my Mom bought it at an art exhibit in Disneyland about half a century ago .. the one i have has a frame dimension of 33" by 21.5" .. my Mom said she was told that the one i had was 1 of only 2 in the world .. but it looks like there may be more .. i am trying to get an appraisal for mine so i can sell it .. anyone know of any free appraisal services? i could really use the money from the sale of the piece, as i have no car, and subsist on just social security and food stamps .. any suggestions or referrals would be greatly appreciated .. thank you .. ;-)
I actually picked up one of these at an estate sale last week. I haven't been able to find out any information regarding the artist or the art other then finding your post on here. If you have any information regarding the name of the artist or artwork it would be greatly appreciated! :)
@mikey24 sorry Michael I haven't been able to find anything either :( it's so frustrating as it really is an amazing piece of work. Someone somewhere should know something I'm sure. I'll keep you posted if I do find out anything though.
I know that the estate sale I picked it up at belonged to a collector. He had the ship and one of a car. I was only able to get the one of the ship. The ship I have is different then the one you have posted. The artwork is on black velvet and is signed. however the signature is very hard to make out.. I have found it VERY difficult to find any info on the web.
Michael,
I'm curious to know where you are? I'm in Perth, Western Australia and wonder how far these have travelled. Both of mine are mounted on black velvet but I don't see any signature though printed on the back of the large one is "product of Spain"
I am in Michigan, USA. Mine doesn't say "Product of Spain" on the back. I wish there was a way I could send you the pic of the one I have through this.
I added the photo to my page for you to see. The signature is very faint and in a gold-ish writing in the bottom right corner. I will take a photo of the signature and add it soon.
I have one that my grandfather commissioned from the artist...let me do some digging...I have an awesome one of these, and I always assumed it was the only one...
