This happens to be my favorite all time photo. I took this at a daytime Mardi Gras parade in Mobile, AL. Mardi Gras originated in Mobile and has a long, rich tradition there. This is a picture of James Brown, the youngest member of the Excelsior Band 1883, a traditional jazz band from Mobile. He is playing a marching french horn. I had set up on a short shaded stretch of street to lessen the effects of harsh light. I snapped seven or eight photos of the band in 20 seconds as they marched by with my Nikkor 80-200 2.8. Several of them were pretty good. This one was astounding to me. For me, it was one of the moments that makes photography what it is.
