While a crowd gathered for the historic event at the Tide Mill yesterday, this lone rower enjoyed a bit of exercise at low tide in the narrow strip of fresh water from the River Deben, which has suffered from drought in recent years.
Nice shot! A lot to see in this photo - the beached boat, on the far side, tells the story of the drought. Hopefully, rains will soon come to end the drought. Thankfully it did for us here in Texas, for most parts of the state.
@grannysue ... well, the reservoirs are nearly full but drought restrictions remain because the underground aquifers will take a long time to recover and even with constant rain we could drink the reserviors dry very soon now that summer is approaching. The climate is certainly changing, but this is nothing new as there are several former rivers and streams in East Anglia that have been completely dry for years, if not centuries. Nature knows what she is doing ... but human over-use and "improvements" have not helped in the long term.
Oops! I just read your bio. :) Well I think one thankyou is allowed since I am new here. Love the composition, tones and textures. Gives it a nice nostalgic feeling.
@d4photo13 ... and thank you too, Donna. It's only the long lists of "Thanks for thanking me for the thanks" that I don't really enjoy. Oops!... now I;'ve done it too!

The sepia tones are superb.
