This bricked-up gateway in Christchurch Park, Ipswich, is a reminder that the 13th century St Margaret’s Church was originally part of Holy Trinity Priory, which was dissolved by Henry VIII. A fine Tudor mansion in the former priory grounds is now a museum and the centrepece of a public park, and has no connection, either physical or spiritual, with the church.
