All Quiet on Aldeburgh Beach

photo 559

The tide's out, the fishing fleet's back on the shingle and the catch is already being sold in the huts . . . and there's a touch of autumn in the vegetation, and it's still a nice place for a stroll after lunch.

(Thank you for all your kind comments on my other Aldeburgh pictures this weekend; it is such an excellent place for photo opportunities!)

I am having more problems with Picmonkey today. It has been getting slower and slower recently as the new owners seem more interested in inventing childish and meaningless names for well-established features than brushing up on their sadly lacking IT management skills. It has taken me over an hour to post this picture because Picmonkey kept hanging up and losing the file. This is the third version I have actually managed to post but the quality is seriously degraded here on 365 although the file displays perfectly well full-screen on my PC.

It is a pity that such an excellent piece of software has fallen into such incapable hands and I am rapidly tiring of it.

Another fabulous shot Arthur. Have a look at Photoscape...it's free, fast to download, doesn't take up much space and actually saves direct to your computer instead of being off in the ether somewhere.

@swilde . . . Thanks for the suggestion, Sue. I tried to download Photoscape but it filled my hard drive with a whole lot of other stuff I did not want or trust, so I aborted the attempt.

@wordpixman That's interesting as I've had problems also with picmonkey. It will make collages but refuse to save them eihter on our main computer or on my netbook. My son thinks they are trying to get me to sign up and pay for something. I'm now looking for an alternative.

@quietpurplehaze . . . Thank you, Hazel. I am sure they are trying to impress people with as little experience or expertise as themeslves, who will pay for childish gimmicks rather than service - but that's what attracts advertising revenue today, isn't it? When did you last see a TV commercial that made sense and didn't shout a load of meaningless garbage at an audience even dumber than themselves?

@quietpurplehaze . . . Me again, Hazel, just to say I would not even consider using PicMonkey for collages because it is so prescriptive and restrictive, whereas Picasa offers totally free form collages (called 'Picture Pile') as well as an excellent choice of flexible preset layouts and auto-fill options.

Lovely image, Arthur. Must say, I haven't had any trouble with PicMonkey and I use it almost daily. It's still fast and easy for me. I use Picasa usually for collages but sometimes PicMonkey and haven't had the problems mentioned by @quietpurplehaze so far.

@wordpixman Ah well, commercials, TV or otherwise, must be the success story of the 20th + century in getting folk to buy things they don't really need or want........ (that's only my opinion of course!)
