What is the collective noun for phone boxes? This is Smithfield Market. I walk past here a lot but it's rare to find these without a van parked in front. It's the same place as this was taken http://365project.org/wrighty/my-26th-year/2012-03-19
So, three great things have happened today.
1. I have FOUND the man I am going to marry. YES. A new boy started at work this week and I just found out his surname is Truelove. Screw Martha McArthur, I am going to be Martha Truelove. I told him I was going to marry him and he didn't seem too fazed, so let's see how that goes. [update: @islawight has done me some research. It bodes well http://www.surnamedb.com/Surname/Truelove]
2. I showed my boss my panoramic picture from yesterday and he was so impressed that he said he might actually use it in his work!!
3. I have been asked to go to the TOP of the Gherkin tomorrow! To take pictures!! For work! How cool is that!! So this time tomorrow I will be where very few people get to go: on the 40th floor of this bad boy http://365project.org/tags/gherkin (ignore the pickled vegetable pictures).
Martha Truelove sounds delightful to me. Like a character from a Dickens novel....or something:) I love how all your shots look like miniature fantasy playlands that, if only I could shrink myself down, I could go in and get lost:)
Wasn't there 6 there who stole 2?
Crikey didn't realise how many shots of the Gherkin I had done :D
Oh great shot and editing, good luck and lucky you going to the top
Fantastic!! What a brilliant day. Love this piccy and love your processing and really looking forward to seeing your shots from the Gherkin, I'd love to go xx
Woooow martha you've done it again! This is so cool, i thought it was miniature until I saw Spitalfields :P and well done haha, truelove sure is a beautiful name :) x
I am so glad the van had a day off and you could take this photo! Love the cheerful colours and the symmetry! And there is something about the phone boxes I really like - perhaps the fact that they are still there?
Oh, and fingers crossed Mrs Truelove to be :D + Good luck for tomorrow!
@judithg thanks Judith :) I don't really remember how I processed this one but there was quite a bit of cloning - the original shot was pretty cluttered! And of course the signature wrighty background blur for some nice fake dof hehe :)
@shirljess it's got soooo much history this area. It's actually a meat market! And it has been a meat market since like the beginning of time. Literally, for over a thousand years (hasn't always been this building, but always on this site). Pretty awesome huh? :)
@sjodell I have no idea actually. I tried to do some googling but it hasn't really helped! I think they're just two different classes of phoneboxes and we never normally notice the difference because there's only usually one on its own!
nice,
although like Roville says it is a strange effect, I wonder if thats because you're still using a phone to take photos...and a toaster to watch videos on, and a pair of glasses to blow your nose, and a sony-walkman to make calls???
where is the results of the Fujica camera you now have??

Of the visit to the gherkin I mean, not not being stable to marry him. Me and Andy c got this same scene last year
Too of the phone boxes :)
Oh, and fingers crossed Mrs Truelove to be :D + Good luck for tomorrow!
this is a fab shot - love it
Love your style and wit. Keep up the good work Martha!
Absolute Fav!
