The Greatest Race

Today was the start of our overnight adventure. We drove to Louisville to find it cold and windy as we parked the car at the Brown Hotel where we met Hester and Duffy (Bes and Fluf, my art teachers from high school and dear friends) for lunch. After cocktails, hot browns, bread pudding and Derby Pie we said our goodbyes then headed to Churchill Downs for a 30-minute tour and a whirlwind run through the gift shop and museum. We couldn't figure out why these places close so early!

Our adventure continued as we drove to Bardstown and stayed overnight at the Talbott Inn. Yummy catfish and pan-seared chicken for dinner in the tavern then blackberry cobbler and bourbon candy for dessert in our sittin' clothes at 9:30 in our room. We were beat. It was great to enjoy our queen-sized beds and catch up on 365.

Beautiful sculpture and nice sharp editing fav:)

Fantastic road trip! Loved seeing Churchill Downs in person. Museum and gift shop were great! Loved the Ild (haunted) Tavern too...and catfish dinner. The room and beds were heavenly! So were the Bourbon Balls and breakfast! :)

@gardenfolk I really loved the Inn. I'd stay there again in a second.
