the last reliable mode of transport...???

London's lost in travel chaos... Heathrow and Gatwick completely shut down, trains overloaded and delayed (if running at all). Huge backlog of travellers stuck in London (though I have to say there are worst places to be stuck...).

I am not sure whether I'll be able to fly to Germany for Christmas after all, fingers crossed. I'm still hopeful. We have just taken in two girls to stay with us. I'm not too keen on this, I don't know them (a friend's brother's wife's friends), first it was one, then it was two. Then they asked if it could be three and thankfully it stayed with two. They were supposed to fly out on Saturday but their flight got cancelled, so now stuck in London until Tuesday. Our flat is quite small, just enough space for two - so taking on another two people is quite a stretch. But then again, I'm just being a stupid cow right now. They don't have anywhere to stay (or don't have the money to afford a hotel/B&B?) and are stuck, so surely it can't be too much to ask to help out?!

Another weekend over - running into the last week before Christmas now!

Sounds like you will have a happy houseful, lol. I'm sure they are really appreciative and it sounds like that is a really nice deed you've agreed to, especially around the holidays (: Hopefully, you will get to Germany, though. I've ridden a bicycle in the thunder and rain, but not in the snow--brrr!

Hopefully you don't encounter any more problems with your "visitors." It was kind of you to open your doors to them for sure.
Also, I wouldn't trust biking in the snow, it doesn't sound safe :P

Ah, just think that your kindness will be returned at some later point in your life. I'm sure they are extremely grateful that you're letting them crash there.

It's crazy how we can't get our act together when there is a bit of snow... Two of my guests are cancelling because their flight can't land at Gatwick from Nairobi. Here's why: http://yfrog.com/h7wbtj LOL>

love the lights, the falling snow, the very subtle colors of the bike. Sets a mood and gets the mind wondering about the back story.

I totally get you about having too many visitors for longer than expected. We had five visitors in four weeks in November/December and it was so stressful!
