Lucky I was at home. The shearer turned up at short notice. 3.5 hours later, 8 shorn alpaca's. It was so windy we had to move the table into the garage to stop all the wool blowing away. Managed to fit in my neighbours 3 too.
Wow - such a great image of the action. I was looking at the alpaca at the Waikato A&P show. Trying to figure a way to hide them in the camper van bathroom to sneak a couple home!
Fab shot. I had my first experience of alpaca shearing two weeks ago it was amazing how quick and smoothly it went! I wish I'd got a photo, but i was too busy bagging up the wool!
@hayleymaxwell my job is the head end! I kept the camera handy for when I was relieved while their heads were trimmed. This is the first year I didn't get spat upon!
Great action shot. I too thought it would be hard having seen hoe sheep need to be held, but have read your comment. Perhaps they have worked out that it is not worth the fuss as it takes longer.
