Waihi's Cornish Pumphouse by yorkshirekiwi

Waihi's Cornish Pumphouse

was built in 1903 to house steam engines and pumping equipment to dewater the historic underground Martha gold mine. It always amuses me that something built in 1903 is thought as as being old in NZ. I'm from England and my first home I ever bought was a stone cottage dating back to the 1850's.
Great shot. Yes NZ isn’t very old in terms of historical buildings!

It's the same here in Australia, but sadly we won't ever have many truly old buildings as they are no longer built to last.
