In January/February each year the cream of New Zealand's yearling crop goes under the hammer with around 1,400 young thoroughbreds auctioned through the Karaka sale ring. I am friends with the owners of Hall Mark Stud, and was invited up for the day. I had know idea what a big event the horse sales are. This is one of their horses in the auction ring. I need to go again for more practice. The horses are moved around quite quickly, under flourescent light, so had to have my ISO set quite high
