Devil's Bench

It feels like my photography is currently going nowhere other than backwards. Come the end of this month I will have been on 365 for 7 years and my ace subscription will be due. So I am giving myself 3 weeks to decide whether to continue.

that's still an arresting image

(I decided I couldn't afford to pay my subscription this time - caring and not earning - so I put all my photos in one album - which was fine because I've stopped and started, and there were lots of gaps I could use to fill).

It would be a pity if you stopped!

Demanding sympathy with menaces... that has to be a criminal offense - doesn't it?

Great processing and textures. Fav!! 😀

@vignouse Sympathy? Menaces? Such accusations, Richard... you wilfully misunderstand!

Whatever it takes to keep you here.... ;~}

Wonderful

I hope you do continue. My enthusiasm ebbs and flows but right now it's lack of broadband that has given everyone a reprieve from my shots.

A glorious B&W David! What a shame if you leave us.........just as I come back! I know you will absolutely make the right decision for yourself :)

I did not realise you had done the same sentence as me, David. I still enjoy it and only jest with the word 'sentence' of course. But I have stepped back a little from 365 and posting elsewhere too.

I like it!

@quietpurplehaze Sentence? .... Oh as in gaol? I see! We are fortunate to be able to choose our own punishment in the 365 prison!

Lots of grit in this image to sand off the rough spots. I say renew but only post as you want or need, its your project after all.

I really like this shot. Lots of texture. Could imagine sitting on that bench! Only you can make the decision about your ace subscription. I still continue even though I don’t post as regularly as I would like. Fav

Love the grittiness and loneliness this shot conveys.
This is my 7th year as well. I'm off and on about posting and commenting but think I'd miss it if I totally left. I like the low-key feel of the site and it does keep photography as a high priority even if I'm slacking off. Good luck with your decision-making.

We all lose our phojo from time to time . Stepping back for a few days or weeks helps. I try different challenges for myself , my latest being using vintage glass. Good luck

@phil_howcroft Thanks Phil. There are many gaps in my 365 pages which represent loss of phojo. I took the breaks knowing I would come back. It feels different this time but closing the account seems a big step. Unsure.

I understand, I feel like that regularly. I want to quit spending time on 365, and internet in general, and do other things I also like. But I'm still here, I seem not to be able to let go of all the nice people here. Good luck with your decision.

@overalvandaan @taffy @chris17 @joysabin @gigiflower @fbailey @vignouse @ludwigsdiana

Thank you all for your sympathy, support and encouragement. I am leaning further towards leaving, having taken many breaks over the years. I have given details of my Flickr account (I might once in a while do something that I want to show so Flickr is where I will put it) as well as some contact details on my profile page

Thanks David, will miss your wonderful work, might pop by now and then on Flickr.
March 13th, 2019
I sure hope you do come back I am being selfish, of course.
I find your comments very honest and frank - not the usual "nice image'.
I too lose my enthusiasm for posting at times. I think we all do. So breaks are understandable.
I really wish that there was a way to print or post the work we have done on this site rather than have it disappear into the emptiness of cyber space.
So - I continue on ........

I like the grunge in this image. Don't quit.

I'm sorry to hear that you are seriously considering calling it a day here, David - you'll be very much missed - but I think if it doesn't feel right anymore then you have to trust your feelings. Glad to hear that you're planning on posting on Flickr when you have something to 'say'. All the best to you.
