Sepia flower by yrhenwr

Sepia flower

I have been feeling below par . (It must be my age!) But yesterday I did feel well enough to shoot this flower as a macro. And today to process it and add some toning. I think I made a bit of a mess of painting it with light but:
It is as it is!
A wonderful macro David, love the detail and tones. Fav

whats that you get to a certain age and you think everything could kill you .. or something like that, it might just be a cold!

@kali66 Anything could.. even a cold/chest infection. It's not something I worry about! The disease doesn't matter... death is leaving life and it has to happen some time to all of us,

@quietpurplehaze Blowsy? what does that mean? Thanks anyway, Hazel!

@yrhenwr

Oh perhaps it's a bit of Suffolk vernacular! I found online:
"You can also describe lush, overblown flowers that are a bit past their peak bloom as blowsy: "I prefer daisies, but my mom is partial to big, blowsy roses." The word dates from the 17th century and comes from a now-obsolete term for "a beggar's female companion," blowze."
(I never heard of that origin!)

I don't see a mess. I see a fine richness of tone and a sympathetic presentation of the extravagantly dressed flower. Sorry you are below par though David, hope it is just a temporary blip.

Lovely result. The soft tones work really well.

A wonderful close up. Great light and details.

Sorry to hear you've been feeling poorly-sick; it's not the best time of year heath-wise.
I like the close composition you've used here and the sepia tones seem to suggest the flower's ageing.

@helenhall thanks Helen. I do like your analytical comments, especially for those shots that I seem unable to analyse and articulate myself

@dulciknit Thanks Alison... I seldom choose sepia toning, a gentle selenium is my all purpose go to. Now I understand why I chose sepia for this one. 'Not the best time of year health wise' puts my cough and sniffles into perspective! I no longer feel sorry for myself... there are thousands upon thousands out there!

@helenhall PS. A temporary blip of course! As we all are! Feeling much better

@quietpurplehaze Thanks Hazel, very interesting and there's a new word for my vocabulary!

I like the change of light and focus, top to bottom.

I like it, just as is:)
