This is our baby girl Anna. She has the biggest heart and absolutely loves animals. These baby kittens belonged to a wild cat. We were called by the helpless mother to come and rescue them from “impashi.”
Impashi for those of you that don’t know are vicious, flesh eating ants that demolish all insect and animal life in their path. What they lack in size, they make up for in sheer numbers.
These poor kittens were covered in ants by the time we got to them. We rolled them in a bowlful of flour (these ants don’t like anything resembling powder) and managed to save three out of the four babies.
Unfortunately not long after this photo was taken we found the babies crying again - this time their mother had not come home. It seems she met with a snake 😞 so we took them on until they were big enough for us to find loving homes for them. If the kids had their way, we would have kept them all.
Life in Africa can be tough for little babies like this. I am happy we were able to help this family.
This is such a lovely photo of Anna and the kittens. I enjoyed reading your post, even if the information was sad in some respects. It is wonderful that you managed to save these cute kittens :) FAV
beautiful image, it's nice that your baby already loves animals and is not afraid, i'm glad that you managed to help these little creatures....and thanks for the information on the impashi
Lovely image and interesting story. The story certainly is sad but I can chose to try to dwell on the ones that were saved rather than just on the ones that were lost.
Thank you so much for your very special comments - I hope you have all had a lovely weekend. I really am always so touched and flattered by your kind words. Thank you. Night night from Zambia
What a touching and heartbreaking story! We have two cats, one a tabby like these, and he's the love of our life! I understand how your children want to rescue all the little animals...I'd also try to do the same if up against it. I do pray you find them good and loving homes! Your photo with you darling Lassie is a gem!
Your daughter is a sweetheart loving these poor litten kittens. so sad, but am happy you saved three of them. with luck you'll find them a good home. it will be hard for Anna to let them go.
