On Erik Kims list of "100 things I have learned about photography" nr. 17 is: "Making your photos b/w doesn’t automatically make them artsy”. I agree, but in this case I wanted to focus on the texture, not the colour. One of my goals, pushed by my 365 project, is to learn to "see" a subject in b/w before I take the shot and this was a good training object.
With my first 35mm camera black and white is all I shot for about a year. They say if you can take a good b/w, then your color shots will be fantastic. Anyway good one for texture and b/w.
@rmkgreene Thanks Ruth and I agree: To have a good eye for light and shadows (which I need to practise) will also enhance the colour shots. The time I have used b/W film only and processed and enlarged my photos in the basement of my parents home is more than 30 years ago ;)
