Sally "How do you feel about doing a minimilist composition in monochromatic colour of your choosing?" Not sure if this is minimilistic enough and if the red berries disqualifies it as a monochrome?
Lighting this was really difficult, trying to get the folds of the velvet to fall and lit. I had a vague idea about nap/weft so changed how the material was hung and kept faffing. A lttle bit of Polarr processing to tone down the red of the berries and a bit of a crop. Even I went wow when I looked at it on black!!
@salza Hi Sally, I found a bit of green velvet at work today, borrowed it for the night, picked some holly from the garden and even polished the little bud vase i carefully plonked it in.
From the standpoint of a photography competition, your use of more than one color would disqualify it from a monochrome category.
Setting that aside, it is a lovely photography. I love the highlights on the berries and the contrast of light and shadow in the draping.
I think you have done this beautifully. The brighter green of the leaves stand out on the soft, dark green of the velvet. The berries are a perfect contrast.
