The River Test by 30pics4jackiesdiamond

The River Test

One of the three important chalk stream rivers that flow through Hampshire.

These rivers are vital for sustaining diverse river, meadow and land eco-systems, and us humans!

Houses are being flung up all over the county but water requirements are not taken into consideration when planning permission is granted. As soon as the house building starts the water companies, by law, have to supply water and drainage. We are draining our beautiful rivers and the chalk stream aquifers dry. Our summers are hotter and drier, but water demand for life, fun and agriculture are increasing.

Lovely. I learnt to swim in this river. There were strong currents and we were told as children that it was dangerous to go in the river. It was a swim or drown challenge. Fortunately many of us survived!!!

Looks beautiful. Sounds a lot like here. Hopefully water will be recognized for the precious resource it is.

It’s probably a really good thing that you are documenting their presence now then with this kind of beautiful photo

This is beautiful in b&w. I love the softness and reflections.
If there’s room on that soapbox I will happily join you. We have very similar problems here.

Beautiful shot! I don't understand it... They tear down as many houses as they build around here. They build them crammed/jammed next to each other where you can spit in your neighbor's yard. Literally packed like sardines in a can. I don't even want to imagine the septic/sewer systems and what they're doing with those.

fantastic shot, love the black and white. Sad to read that the area is not protected of our environment.

Water is going to be more valuable that oil, it should be cared for, now.

Water use and aquifer depletion are a problem over here also. Thank you for posting this lovely picture and the link to the info on the Hampshire chalk streams.

Probably that IR effect. Soft as in a bit fuzzy, but not due to a shake.
