The lovely Mary challenged me to be inspired by, and depict, an old master. I really liked the simplistic composition of this Mandolin by Ferdinand Roybert and as we happen to have a mandolin in the house..............
Oh my goodness, it might look simple and simplistic, but getting the lighting, shading and the blooming thing to stay upright!
Mary sometimes done is better than perfect! Thanks for the challenge, I enjoyed doing the research (I'm very ignorant about art)
I can empathize having tried to do a similar shot of an old violin. I think you did this well. A suggestion might be to"de-shadow" the mandolin a bit in post processing.
Beautifully captured Jackie.. I love the lighting....Big Fav.
I love the mandolin & my uncle played that & the banjo...
Lovely, Lovely memories.. Thank You!
That is amazing! So you just happen to have a mandolin in the house?🤔 Comes in handy in many ways 🤣 Wonderful light. Yes you’re right the artist lived in more modern times—mid-nineteenth to early twentieth centuries. But the style of his composition and lighting definitely harkens back to the older old masters. Mission well accomplished!
@koalagardens LOL!
Came back to give it a FAV
