So poignant! This baby racoon had become separated from its mother. A crowd gathered to watch it as it climbed and trundled about, emitting the most heartbreaking trill. We called Animal Services, but the call went straight to voice mail (!!!). The racoon eventually found its way to some bushes, where it remained and where it continued its bleating for its mommy. I hate to think what will happen overnight.
Ooh! how disturbing to see the little one so distressed , I hope he would be re united with the mother before too long! Such a lovely and as you say poignant sight to see him even turning to the human ! fav
a sweet and sad image... hopefully mommy will come back for them... i read about this some years back when we found an abandoned baby racoon in our yard... i did a bit of googling at the time and there was some lore out there that suggested the mom would come back once the baby was no longer surrounded by a bunch of humans... hopefully that is true and this little guy will be ok...
@northy Hi northy. Thank you for this information and the link to your photo and the information you posted at that time. This is reassuring. I did go back to the same spot today, but there were so many people out and about that mama and baby wouldn't have been out even if they had reunited. I do hope they have.
