With the spinnakers up

Both my boys are avid sailors, and are currently competing in the 29er National Championships. In this shot, my oldest son is dressed in white, and in the boat with the orange spinnaker.
Somehow I've managed to become unofficial photographer, so spend my days on the water, and evenings processing the photos for the sailing facebook page.
Fabulous image Rachel - hope they were both pleased with their results!

I really love the clear sails. In your narrative, you say, "somehow," but I know exactly how. You're one of the best photographers ever, and they're lucky to have you.

Wonderful colours. I hope that both of your boys were successful.

You might be the unofficial photographer but you are certainly professional AND personally invested, which makes for wonderful photography! Are you using the 100-400 here?

@judithdeacon @salza @pamknowler Thanks all! It all finished today, and they were 'ok' with their results. Perhaps disappointed. The next regatta starts in 12 days, so they can try, try again. :)

@littleconnie @onewing @gilbertwood @lhart Thank you so much for your lovely compliments!

@jyokota Thanks Junko. Yes, this is the 100-400mm. I just love the clarity of this lens. I can heavily crop the shot, and its still crisp. Are you enjoying it?
December 30th, 2017
@will_wooderson Thanks William. It does look close, but they managed to cut across without any crashes or falling in the water. Exciting stuff!

@888rachel -- I've only used it a little since I didn't take it with me during my month in Munich or my week here in LA or to any of my travels in November but I did take it to Seattle and I got my two shots of Mt Rainier using that lens. And I love them both. What I also appreciated is using that lens for doing photography at events where I can be fairly far back and get shots of the speaker without disturbing the audience. Need more practice with it, though -- it's quite heavy! But what great results. Do you also have the 70-200 2.8? My husband bought me that lens a few years ago and I returned it because it was so heavy. Now I regret that decision!

@jyokota I haven’t got the 70-200mm lens, though a friend of mine does. It’s even heavier than the 100-400mm!

Me likey! Keep up the good work ...
