Happy Groundhog's Day and Happy Blizzard! What a way to start of the month of February. The snow finally stopped and we faced a mountain of white stuff everywhere we turned. After shoveling the front steps, front walk, and three flights of back stairs, there was NO way we were going to tackle Deb's car in the parking lot. The lot had around a foot or two of snow, so even after removing the snow from the car...we weren't going anywhere fast. Then we opened our garage door to see if we could get MY car out and discovered another mountain! Did I mention that they don't plow alleys in Chicago....so again, even if we could have backed out...we wouldn't have gotten very far down the alley. With the way the wind blew, it really was the luck of the draw as to which cars were buried. Check out the cars across the street. They were the lucky ones, whereas the ones nearest to our lot were buried.
I gotta tell you...that snow is mighty heavy and my back is paying the price tonight. Not sure if we'll make it to work again tomorrow since we have no way to drive there, and I'm not sure I can make the long trek through the drifts to a train station. Long trek?I can hardly stand! Oy, I'm gettin' old!
Wow! Chicago got the worst of it I think. My city shut down but that was because the plows couldn't keep up. Even my school district closed! Twice! (They RARELY close here). You got a lot more snow though! I saw the pictures of Lake Shore Drive on our news tonight - I was shocked! I hope your back feels better! Get yourself a wonderfully large cup of cocoa and think about all those calories you burned! :)
Wow that is an incredible amount of the white stuff!! what is happening to the weather. My sister in Australia just survived one of the worst cyclones in history- altho they still dont know the condition of their house.
hahahahaha! I love your editing. Your FB photos were great too. Looks similar to down here for snow. I think we ended up with 17-20 inches. Stay safe and warm.
I knew you'd have a wonderfully descriptive picture and lots to tell about the adventure! We got last night's WGN broadcast and felt as though we'd been through it with you...only from a warm place! I don't know how the city begins to move again until some of this melts or is cleared away! That's just crazy!
