OK, at 9:30 in the morning the sun is pretty bright and doesn't make for the best photo quality... But what this lacks in same, was made up for with a lot of Kitty Love. It was as though T.J. sensed things are about to change, and as we sat out in the yard having coffee http://365project.org/Weezilou/365/2010-03-18 , he wouldn't leave us alone. I want certain friends to see here, I gave T.J. a little "Kiss on his ears" to let him know he'll be missed, but we will return...
We have a wonderful friend, Tracy, who "shares joint custody" of the cats (and bird) with us. The day we met, she said to me, "If you ever are away and need someone to look after the cats, I'd love to do it for you". At that moment, she had no idea how thrilled we'd be to have her in our life! She steps in and takes our place without missing a beat, even sending me pictures every few days.
This one's for Tracy. The little guys will be so thrilled to see you again!
Louise, I Love, Love, Love this!!!! You kissing T.J. on the ear - sooo cute!!! I've gone through a lot of separations with kitties, traveling back and forth as we do, and as much as goodbyes are bitter, it's amazing the recognition and affection you get when you see them again!!! Absence does make the heart grow fonder!
Nice to know while you are away, your kitty will be well cared for. I am sure your cat picks up the vibes that something is a foot. Very loving photos.
My cat always knows when you are about to leave and gets angry. Before my mom retired, the cat would get angry at the sight of her uniform. The eyes would go to slits and she would sit along the top of the chair and bat at my mom with her paw. Then when you get home, she follows you from room to room, trying to be inconspicuous , of course, because she is a cat and isn't supposed to care. LOL
Lovely portraits, lovely cat! Cats do sense things so TJ knows a change is coming. Do you go to NS every year? Good to have a friends to care for little guys!
so cute! and it's very true about animals sensing. good that he will be well taken care of though.
in response to your questions...
i'm actually in the central coast area, so not really SoCal or NorCal. that particular shed is actually just up the road from where I live. It's at the base of a mountain/hill (Cerro San Luis)
I have the same situation as you every year (and, I, too, am lucky to have people who step right in)! I wish I could take mine with me, but cats that spend time outdoors seem to be so attached to their "territories." However, I can't leave my suitcase out while I'm packing because Sammers has been known to "mark" it! EWWWW!
Awww. great shot, Louise. It's nice that you have "joint custody" of TJ with someone...makes leaving him a bit more bearable, doesn't it? TJ's going to miss you guys. Hope you're not too mia here on the site. we'll miss you, too.
How wonderful that you have such a great friend willing to do that, who you also are able to trust with you "family". These are both very sweet photos.
Oh, your kitties will miss you, but I'm glad you'll have updates while you are away. We were just saying how sad it is going to be when we have to leave ours for two weeks this summer. The dog gets to come with us, but Zeb is left by himself with our friends to look after him. Our old cat used to get so mad he'd poop on the floor in every room while we were away as a little message to us!
I'm glad that you have a reliable person to watch your critters while your away! I always fret when I leave my gang: so much to do when you have 2 horses, 18 chickens, 1 goat, 3dogs, 2 cats and 2 rats! IN the summer it also includes 4 perennial beds that need watering daily, plus the pots on the deck--whew!!!!!!!!!!!!
oh Louise i had to laugh and that is really good even your comments are so funny at times (keep it up and i mean the hugs with you hubby) just love to hear from you all the time. but really i do have to ask you again and i feel like i'm a pest. a little while ago i sent you the poem i wrote for my granddaughter it has never come back but i still don't know if you received it. also another note to ask if yu like a picture of the candyhouse mentioned in the pem?? just curious sofar you are the only person beside relatives i shared it with. L&H
Such sweet photos of you two. It's so nice that you have someone to take care of the kids while you're away. Here's wishing you safe travels and we look so forward to seeing and hearing about your adventures.
Oh Louise, I can't imagine being apart from my cats for any length of time! I'm so glad you have someone to take care of them for you, who loves them just as much as you. What a precious gift. These photos are beautiful.
Wendy, and all of you, YES, we take a laptop with us, and I plan to continue posting pictures everyday. I'll also put extras on my Shutterfly "365 share" site, and for the past several years, I've done a "Traveling Twosome" site for family and friends. You guys are all like "family and friends" to us now, so as much as I can pull together, I'm delighted to share! This transition shift is from "the Park" in Southern California to "Fishing Village/UNESCO World Heritage Site" in Lunenburg Nova Scotia. Expect something different! Thanks for asking me :-)
Your cat looks almost exactly like one of my cat I had when I was really young. We found her walking my uncle's neighborhood and it jumped right into my dad's arms. Despite the fact it was apparently one of my uncles neighbors cat, we took her home because you don't (in my opinion) leave a cat outside in the middle of winter. It looked like she'd been out there for a while, and hadn't eaten much either. Do you know what breed your cat is, I could never figure it out. Enjoy your trip, and don't miss them too much or you won't enjoy your trip!
This is what is so great about having neighbours, we just went away for the first time since moving and left our cat in the kind care of next door, no problem, both very happy!
Louise, OMG. We are sisters! Sorority sisters, that is. I just flipped through my copy of the Kappa Key and saw your photo on the "Fleur-de-lis" Trail! Your last name is what jumped out at me first and then I recognized the face. What a small world this can be. I cannot believe it! I went to the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and joined 365 along with about 6 of my fellow Kappa sisters from UMass. One of them is Cristen, who has commented above.
You must miss your pets so much being away from them all summer! I am going on vacation to Mexico next week and I am already starting to miss my 2 dogs but I have the best dog-sitter, my mom.
adorable!!! Sorry I dont have time to read what you wrote tonight, but I did want to answer your question and say thank you for your comment on my photo of elise today :)
You asked if she shares a commen love for photography? noppe..no she doesnt...I dont really even think she is into anything more than tv. My parents really need to ttalk to her to get her going on what she wants to be when she grows up...then again...so do I.
Wishing you safe, and hassell free travels. I'm sure we all look forward to hearing from you when you reach Nova Scotia, and settle in for a relaxing summer
Kate Doyle has been leaving a message that's important for our friend, Ambeer today: Kate Doyle If you have time, please look at Amber's album http://365project.org/amberlyn/365 Please reach out to her if you would...she needs us now.
I'm hoping to post some photos tonight - I actually thought quite a bit of you when taking them, I think you'll like the ones from the past few days. I'll leave it at that and let you be surprised :)
Things have been hectic around here - I was sick for a solid 5 days and basically stuck in bed for most of that time. In addition to that, I'm moving back to my parents' house for the summer and the move will unfortunately have to happen in 3 separate stages. Stage 1 starts this weekend when they stop by for a visit and will take whatever we can fit into the car home with them already, which means lots of packing tonight and tomorrow. Not to mention ongoing grad school applications...I wish I found the time to post photos here every day, but sometimes it just doesn't happen. It should get better this summer, since I'll be off for a couple of months, and then we'll have to wait and see what grad school does to my schedule.
Louise, it is nice to connect with you. I had already been following you on 365 then you became larger than life with Autumn's tribute project. I am glad I found you and you me.
TJ's expressions are priceless. In Ken's lap he appears to be thinking, "If I stay in his lap, he can't leave." When you're giving him a kiss, it changes to, "Go ahead, kiss me if you want, but I know you're going to leave..and I'm not happy about it!" Great photos of the three of you.
and, believe it or not, there's a slight chance for snow again tomorrow! I WILL NOT TAKE ANOTHER SNOW PICTURE THIS SPRING ... I WILL NOT ... I WILL NOT ... I WILL NOT!
awww so cute!! i bet they will miss you and your hubby a lot but it sounds like they will still get a lot of love and care :) i just love kitties!! thanks so much for sharing TJ with us today :)
Our kitties act the same way. They can usually sense something is going to change and they get really clingy. I love it when they're so loving. It makes me want to make changes more often, lol. ;)
LOVE LOVE LOVE this, my friend!
I feel like you're giving us ALL good-bye kisses!
In any case, it's a darling picture of the two of you.
I was JUST talking about how we view pictures of the people we love.... on my page!
I am so glad that you have Tracy to look after JT and the bird!
Hi....thanks for the message. Yes, flights in northern UK grounded for last couple of days as fresh cloud of ash had moved into air space. Seems to be drifting to Atlantic so all should be okay by tonight. Hope you get your bags packed!!

haha Louise, i don't know fancy editing, i just use "Tint" function in Picasa, it's really easy, since i hate reading instructions, anything i use has to be very "user-friendly" :)
P.S. It's so wonderful you've got Tracy!! ;-))
in response to your questions...

When are you two leaving for Nova Scotia?
I know you miss them but how nice to have a substitute mom you trust. (And thank you for your nice comments on my photos of the last few days!)
