On this gorgeous warm day, after watching the first World Cup game, the four of us walked into town to the Dockside restaurant for fish and chips. In California, we'd never order fried fish, but again, this is the Maritime way. No complaints!
Yesterday, taking pictures of cats inthe neighborhood, I met one of the pwners who just happened to be the lady who designed the garden at Ashlea House. http://365project.org/Weezilou/365/2010-05-30 I told her I'd posted a picture on 365 and she asked me to send her the link. Today, I received a lovely note from the owner of Ashlea House who invited me to come by for a visit! Is this a great little town or what?
This looks so yummy! ;-)) What a wonderful shot, Louise! ;-) Did you see the news about the world oldest shoe? I thought it was a curious coincidence! Off to the house tomorrow, to look for writing under the kitchen drawers (if they are still there) ;-) Have a great weekend, too! ;-)
Lovely view you could sit there a while and people watch I imagine. Lovely to hear about your wee encounter with the garden designer of the B&B and how its led to another opportunity to see inside such a pretty lady- the house that is ;)
my fave part of this shot is the background! it totally sets the tone and just adds so much! sounds like such a wonderful summer you're having! horribly humid here...
Love your title, Louise. I would definitely need some tums, but thats just me... nice shot with the water in the background. Having a fun summer there like we are in Colorado, aren't you. My motto is SAVOR each moment.
I agree about the background -- looks like you're definitely on VACATION....mmmmm....fish n chips......malt vinegar & tartar sauce! How fun that you got that invite -- great little town indeed!
This would be a perfect snack! :))
plus that breathtaking view, very relaxing. Now I'm thinking of a lazy weekend, french fries, beer, burger, and the beach! Enjoy your weekend Louise :)
Love that picture... perfect meal...beautiful setting. And what fun about the B&B! It sounds like a great place to be....the more we read about it the more we want to join you.... just how many could you have for a sleep-over?
Looks super yummy! That's a common occurrence over on this side of the country too, in fact you probably had fish and chips when you were here. The view kinda looks like "Bastion Square" in downtown Victoria.
Yep..as Susan said...we all eat fish and chips here, too!
Our little corner here is also an historic fishing village, so it's quite a popular feast...down on the docks, or at the beach.
We usually call in our order, and a 5 min walk later ( which includes both ways ), we're chowing down. Yum!
But the best fish 'n chips ever, no matter where we went, was in England.
Meant to say Patrice Newell is the name of the grower of the garlic. She grows organic garlic and sells online. It sells out the first day it is released. Pauline has a book of hers I discovered in one of photos. http://365project.org/paulines/365/2010-05-13
The fish and chips look divine! Being a Cape Codder, I am very picky about where I'll order fish as well, but that looks so good! Lovely view as well.
How cool that you met the person who designed the Ashlea House's garden! I love how in small towns, a chance meeting like that can lead to an invitation!
What a beautiful day..another great picture from you Louise ..btw did you watch FIFA 2010 world cup opening ceremony? do you like soccer? I though soccer is not famous in US :) have a great weekend Louise..
yum yum, i could enjoy some fish and chips right now! i love the way you photographed the food and drink against the beautiful background! i admire how you make the most of each day!
Great shot! The food looks very tasty and I love that gorgeous view in the background. And I am not at all surprised that you are making new friends... you seem to do that everywhere you go. :-D
Great pic. Makes me want to head to the shore for lunch outside on a restaurant deck. It looks like a pic from a restaurant's site. Nice composition. BUT tell me that really isn't beer and lemonade? Yuck! I have never heard of that, but was going to ask what kind of beer that is because it did seem so light in color. I prefer a full bodied beer and detest all the bottled brews that have a hint of fruit. But I hope you enjoyed your meal. :-)
Mmmm, fish and chips and football, what decadence, what a great combination!!Thank you for the squirrel info, there's always so much to learn about everything!!
Now that's a vacation shot! Mmm...fish & chips! In San Diego, Shakespeare's has the very best and when we go I happily order away and enjoy a pint or two of Smithwicks.
looks great, me and the wife are both on a diet so I'm trying not to think about yummy food like this, so I'm going to look away now, hehe.
seriously though, I am so flattered and honoured to be a guest (albeit in a picture frame) in your home, honestly, I'm overwhelmed, thank you so very much, kindest regards, Peter
ps. looking forward to the game tonight, may the best team win
I was just saying to Rick as we drove home last night that I have a growing list of things I want to share with my 365 friends ... it's almost frustrating to only have one post a day, but I've not yet reached the shutterfly "overflow" level of addiction! LOL!
That looks soooo good! I grew up in New England and LOVE fish and chips...but can never find it like it is there. :-) Looks like a beautiful locale, too.
I'm pretty sure it was your naturally sweet disposition that lead the Ashlea House owner to invite you for a visit. :) Thanks for your encouraging words and support! By the way... looks delicious!
Louise, Moosehead is a nice brew. Glad to hear it wasn't a "Shandy". LOL! I googled that to find out what it was and wouldn't drink it on a dare. :-) No offense to anyone who likes it. Fizzy lemonade and beer? Yuck.
It IS a great little town! But you sure are charming, Louise, so I think my oppinion may be biased, heehee! =) So glad you're having such a great time over there!
This is such a great food shot. I like it espeiclaly becasue I love fish n' chips and I really love the background with eth water, boats and nautical flags flying. I am hesitant to post food shots at this point, I have not taken one that I am especially proud of, this is a good one.
Yummm Hi Louise! sorry for my hiatus from 365, i lost my camera, found it in my refridgerator... yadda yadda yadda. I just has lunch a little while ago and i'm still licking my lips over the fantastic fried food in your pic :)
It looks like you both have a very niced time in your second favorite place and we enjoy all the pictures and comments. that garden looks beautiful and very well appointed.
plus that breathtaking view, very relaxing. Now I'm thinking of a lazy weekend, french fries, beer, burger, and the beach! Enjoy your weekend Louise :)
I adore Victorian houses ... I hope she'll let you take some shots of the inside ...

Thanks again for letting me post your heart on my blog.

Fish and chips, a staple British diet, lol. Great photo :-)
Good setting!
