Inspired by this comment from Suzie Townsend,
"I seem to remember a store in Lunenburg that had about 3 or 4 rooms of lovely art like that. I don't know if it is still there or not - I seem to remember a garden in the back. Do you know what I am talking about? I loved that store and spent a lot of time browsing it."
I took my friend, Nelda, to see one of my favourite stores in town. We were greeted by Marja Moed who was so agreeable to me taking photos. I told her about our 365 project, and she asked me to show her on her store computer. When she said she had a lot of pictures of her cats, I told her she ought to sign up and share them with us! She brought her newest cat up from downstairs so I could see her, which was such a sweet gesture. Another cat, Maxi, came strolling into the shop; he was one of the first cats I saw walking around downtown Lunenburg when I longago visited the store for the first time.
And a special treat for all my "Squirrely Friends", my most recent find has been given an update just in time for Canada Day (June 1st) by Heather's friend, Karen Pedone http://365daysintheyear.shutterfly.com/2333
Thanks for the nice notes, my friends. I've been trying to reply into the wee hours, but it's about to get the better of me! Tomorrow I'm off to the Valley with our friends & neighbours for sightseeing and a picnic. Photo ops are likely to abound!
first thing I noticed was the purple floor! then the green door and how wonderful it all looked with the gray building and then how wonderfully you framed the photo. love it
What a cute shop! Love all those bright colors and of course Maxi was just fabulous. I think my favorite shot was of those delightfully whimsical fish chairs on the back patio. How fun!
This is a wonderful looking little shop! That was so kind of her to bring you her newest kitty to see. Look forward to seeing your pics from the Valley tomorrow!
Gorgeous shot, Louise!! This little store looks like a real treasure!! I love all the colors in the interrior, and that fish bench in the yard is simply adorable!! Jeremy was just asking me the other day what kind of patio furniture I want...you are giving me ideas! ;-)) I've been so busy lately, so I am trying to catch up with all the comments. I wish there were more than 24 hours in a day! ;-)
Ohh I love the yellow door and the sign they are so beautifull.. Well hello Louise.. have not had a chance to catch up with you for a long long time.. But I see from the pictures that u are having an awesome time....I an enjoying nova scotia from ur pictures.. good to see u .. keep us posted.
OH!!! I just love this place, too!
( I want to line my "studio" walls with a whole bunch of those stars! )
I quite like the purple floors, as well.
I think I could walk into that place and happily sit on the floor, perhaps with a cup of tea, and just site there for a good long time, just looking at everything. Or, maybe I would sit out in the back garden on that lovely chair!
really lovely shot ! the houses look so colourful. in the Scottish Hebridies, there is an island called Mull. On Mull, there is a place called Tobermory, and along the seashore there are lots of colourful houses! Here is a link i found of a photo so you can see what i mean! -> link . These houses remind me of the ones you photograph!
I will be visiting this island over the summer so will be sure to take some photos of this town for 365project!
great use of selective coloring, louise =) i love how you showcased the color of the door (that makes me happy, btw, as yellow is my fave color) and the quaint sign.
What a cute little shop. I love the "fish" Adirondacks in the garden.
BTW - I have finally managed to load all my pics up to date, so you can see how my life has been going over this last hectic week. Yep, Kerri shamed me into getting them up there...and I only had to stay up until 2:45am this morning to do it! Boy, by the time I get home from work, have some dinner and start to tackle the mountains of chores, unpacking, etc. around the new apt....spending time on the internet is about the last thing I want to do. But I do miss everyone and hope that I can now keep up a bit better day to day.
The composition of this picture is top class. I love the colours and the way you've allowed the green to be a highlight, rather than dominate the grey. A definite fav!
I do love your pictures, its so nice to see your world. Never see properties in the UK like this and without you, I'd never get to see these places. Thanks!
What a beautifully quaint place! My goodness, I'd love to visit that area sometime. I may have to add it to my list of must visits. I've never been out of Michigan but I would love to go to Maine and Alaska, and now perhaps Nova Scotia.
I am starting to get the feeling that you can post anything from Lunenburg, even a trash can, and it will be pretty! Everything you have shown us is simply beautiful! It's almost like a place of dreams!

OOH! GO TO BED, Barb!
