This afternoon we drove out to see friends on Feltzen South, a peninsula that looks back across the water to Lunenburg. JD and Mike are putting the finishing touches on a lovely 200-year-old Cape Home, ready for the first summer renter next weekend. While Ken visited, I wandered across the road to the 2-story fish shack with large doors that open to the water and a view of the town. http://365daysintheyear.shutterfly.com/1870 They hope to turn that into a retreat for an artist or writer one day...I'd certainly find it an inspiring location. (My telephoto lens brought in the town close-up but omitted the framwork of the doors. The camera in this case fails to see what the human eye can pick up.)
Movie update: Across the water, a large tent has been erected on one of Lunenburg's most beautiful waterside estates. I went on a home tour there last year, so I look forward to seeing movie scenes that take place at the wedding in the storyline. Also, I watched the first episode of "Haven" tonight and it was full of local scenery. Of course they changed the names on some of the stores, but the location was unmistakable. I hope some of you got to watch it.
That would be such an awesome retreat for an artist. I would love to be able to go there and paint or at least pretend I can paint. So welcoming and serene.
I can't believe some of the wonderful photos you capture. If we ever take a trip to your neck of the woods, we will definitley have to make plans for you guys to give us a tour.
I didn't get a chance to see "Haven" yet, but I can't imagine a better name for it if it's filmed in your town! What a haven indeed! I LOVE this picture! How awesome would it be to open your own doors and see this behind them? I can feel the breeze rush in and the smells of summer smack me *gently* in the face! GREAT shot!
Gorgeous view, Louise!! I love the framing! This will definitely be a perfect spot for an artist! ;-) I looked closely at my photo, and I think I can see the owl and the cat ;-) Clouds can be so much fun!
It's wonderful when you have your days full with visits with friends, yummy meals and gorgeous vistas! We are trying to move in the house soon, and we are staying busy, too! However, i love it, because I know it marks the start of a new adventure ;-) Have a wonderful week and pet that pretty kitty Dill from me! ;-)
Thanks for the kind comments you posted the other day Louise. It means a lot coming from you. I find that words come easy when they come from the heart, so I deserve no praise for them, but thank you! As for this photo, that 200 year old Cape sound like an amazing place. I like that you say "the camera fails to see what the human eye can pick up". I feel that way in every single photo I take, but I know what you mean. Frustrating isn't it? Anyways Louise, thank again and thanks for continuing to share all of your beautiful surroundings from a place I definitely need to visit before I check out.
This is such a tranquil scene, I can see how artists, like you, would be inspired by it. It has so many elements I really love, blue sky, delicate clouds, beautiful light, colour and a seaside view. The doors make a great frame & give perspective. A fav! Thank you so much for your comments on my page. You really are such a thoughtful person. I'm so glad that D remembered the poem, your friends are obviously wonderful too! You might remember that my mum passed away last year, which is why I felt so emotional about it.
I love the way you have framed the scene with the open doors. It gives a real feeling of immediacy.
Thank you for the anniversary good wishes. Did your sticky note stay in place all this time!
Thanks Louise, and I have to say, if anyone tells a good journolistic story, you are the Queen... :-)... Although on saying that, isn't it great touching on the snippits of people's lives through this site... I find it as fasinating as their photos finding out a little bit about people and their day to day travels... all good stuff and so glad I'm fell upon this site
I agree with Cindy too!
